I believe the lower mintage American Buffalo gold coins (compared to American Eagle mintages) have a greater chance of realizing numismatic value. To my eye, at least, the James Earle Fraser Buffalo design is far superior to any bullion coin on the market. Finally, by purchasing PCGS graded coins from APMEX, one eliminates the Mint's massive overkill of cardboard containers and wooden boxes which require substantial storage space.
