In May of 1982, Steven Spielberg released one of his biggest films, E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, which quickly became a blockbuster hit and is regarded as one of the greatest films of all time. Over the past 40 years, Spielberg’s iconic film has received countless awards, began many film stars’ careers, and was added to the United States National Film Registry by the Library of Congress as a film that is “culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant.”
