Chinese Gold Panda Values

Chinese Gold Panda coins are produced by the Chinese Mint in common sizes, including 1/20 oz, 1/10 oz, 1/4 oz, 1/2 oz, and 1 oz. Gold Pandas showcase different designs of pandas, often highlighting a playful or natural scene with single or multiple pandas. These designs are refreshed each year, adding to the collection's appeal. Chinese Gold Panda coins are treasured for their artistic beauty, high-quality production, and potential investment value. Minted in .999 fine gold, Chinese Gold Pandas are highly regarded by collectors and investors worldwide.

About the Gold Panda

Prices for gold Pandas can sometimes be difficult to compare. In 2016, the PRC switched to using grams as their unit of measurement. It’s still possible to purchase a gold Panda coin in 1 troy ounce, but they are dated from 1984 to 2015 and carry a higher premium due to their relative scarcity. Modern 30-gram gold Panda coins are the closest size to one troy ounce, coming in about 1.1 grams lighter than a troy ounce. The gold Pandas do traditionally carry a higher premium, comparable to gold Eagles in 2023. Part of the higher premium may be explained by a unique feature – the design of the Panda changes every year. There are not many coins in the world that do this and they tend to be valued by collectors. In addition, the Chinese mint limits production, which tends to also lend itself to higher premiums.
