Platinum Kangaroo Coin Values

Platinum Kangaroo coins, also known as Platinum Australian Kangaroo coins, are produced by the Perth Mint in Australia. These coins are part of the Kangaroo bullion series, which also includes gold and silver versions. The Perth Mint is renowned for its high-quality precious metal products and has a long-standing reputation in the industry. Platinum Kangaroo coins come in various sizes, the most common being 1 oz, 1/2 oz, 1/4 oz, and 1/10 oz. The coins have a face value denominated in Australian dollars, although their intrinsic value is based on the platinum content and prevailing market prices. The design of the Platinum Kangaroo coins features an image of the iconic Australian marsupial, the kangaroo, on the reverse side. The obverse side displays the effigy of Queen Elizabeth II.

About the Platinum Kangaroos

Platinum Kangaroos are the Perth Mint’s bullion coin for the platinum market. While the Perth Mint does have other coins in platinum, like their popular lunar series, the Kangaroo is known for being their low premium bullion option. Kangaroos tend to be priced closer to Maples, and their premiums are sometimes low enough to compete with generic platinum bars. As the Perth Mint produces other, more collectible platinum coins, the Kangaroo tends to be purchased more exclusively as a bullion product. This means that specific year Kangaroos can often be purchased for a modest premium in comparison to other platinum coins that sell specific years, like the Platinum Eagle.
