This limited edition and very seldom offered "union" case sold by the U.S. Mint in 1995 commemorating the Civil War. It is a replica of the union cases Civil War soldiers carried. It usually contained a photo of a loved one. The case has a replica of a $5 Gold coin on the front and back.
This 2-coin set honors the brave soldiers who served in the Civil War.
Set Highlights:
- The dollar contains .7734 oz of Silver.
- The half dollar contains Copper/Nickel bonded to an inner core of pure Copper.
- Comes in the rare "Union" case replica of those which were carried by the Civil War soldiers.
- Obverse: The Silver dollar features a soldier offering a canteen to another wounded soldier. On the half dollar is an image of a standing drummer boy.
