The Silver Pandas were first minted in 1983. The first 3 years of mintage were in proof quality condition, and had a limited mintage of 10,000 pieces for each year. No Silver Pandas were struck in 1986, but they have been minted every year since then. Each year, the design of the panda changes making them highly collectible. The only year they didn’t change design was 2002, which used the same design as 2001.
The People’s Republic of China issues and guarantees the quality of each Silver Panda coin. Silver Panda coins are minted from several mints each year. Those mints include but are not limited to Shenzhen, Shanghai and Shenyang. Unlike the U.S. Mint, these Chinese Mints do not incorporate mint marks to distinguish the difference between each mint. Instead, these mints are known for having minor differences in the design of the coin such as font size, bamboo length and designs of the temple in certain year’s mintages. With the annual change in design, and unique mint variations, the price of Silver Pandas has appreciated over time making them highly sought after by collectors and investors.
Silver Pandas in the Precious Metals MarketSilver Pandas, launched in 1983, were struck in proof editions for the first three years. Those proof coins boasted a strictly limited mintage of 10,000 per year. In 1986, no Silver Pandas were produced, though they have been minted each year since. The reverse artwork on the Silver Panda changes annually, featuring a new panda scene, making them extremely desirable to collectors. However, in 2002, the China Gold Coin Corporations flirted with the idea of stopping the annual design change on the Silver Pands, and repeated the 2001 artwork. The coin world voiced its displeasure and the yearly changing artwork resumed in 2003.

Whoah nelly gotta reel in this reigns of this one. The detail on the fur of the face of the panda in this coin is crafted with detail that is very attuned to the discreet and delicate ways that a real pandas fur would gently move around under the conditions of a slight breeze or soft norester for example. The scene is set. It is dusk. And after a long hard day of foraging for bamboo the panda gathers itself in all it glory and prowess to look into the very soul of the artist and viewer, to say with words not too loud but just louder than a breathy whisper, "???? ????? ". How lovely, truly a buy again folks.

Love the panda! Came in great condition and in a capsule. I may go back a few years to collect more of the panda series but it might get pricey. The 2018 is a great coin to collect even though it’s short a gram...
