Massive copper 5 Kopeks issued during the reign of Catherine II of Russia from 1763-1796. These coins are very popular with collectors across the globe because of their large diameter and thickness of approximately 4.8 mm.

Catherine the Great (officially Catherine II) was the Empress of Russia from July 9, 1762 until her death. She was born in Stettin as Princess Sophie Auguste Friederike von Anhalt-Zerbst. Due to her very pronounced consciousness of power, Russia flourished with new strength. Catherine II determined the fate of Russia for 34 years and died in her palace near St. Petersburg on November 17, 1796.
