2022 Gold Eagle Design
The Gold Eagle's original design was introduced in 1986 was not the first time the design was used in U.S. coinage circulation. Weinman's Walking Liberty is still featured on the 2022 Gold Eagle, with slight updates to the original bronze cast to create a more modern feel to the classic design. The 2022 Gold Eagle reverse, however, depicts a new reverse first introduced in mid-year 2021. The reverse has a single eagle coming in for a landing with an oak branch in its talons as if bringing it to a nest. The reverse design was created by U.S. Mint's AIP Designer Emily Damstra and sculpted by Mint Medallic Artist Michael Gaudioso. The designs that were introduced mid year 2021 will now be the designs moving forward into the year of 2022.
The 2022 Gold American Eagles come in fractional sizes, like 1/10, to provide different options for various budget ranges.
