Marcus Tullius Cicero and the Right to Keep and Bear Arms
Marcus Tullius Cicero was a Roman lawyer, politician, philosopher and skeptic who lived from 106 BC to 43 BC. He was best known for his abundant writing and opinions on everything from philosophy to politics and rhetoric. Cicero is regarded as one of Rome’s most famous orators and prose stylists and is credited with lifting up Latin to be used in the academic sphere.
The brilliant thinker was a lawyer and politician during his life, and he was an essential person in many historic moments of the Roman Empire. For example, he contributed to ending an unsuccessful coup and later, during Julius Caesar’s tumultuous rule, Cicero recommended a return to a customary style of republican government.
Cicero’s philosophy and republican stance inspired the Founding Fathers of the United States. Thomas Jefferson is even recorded as expressing that Cicero was one of the few primary historical people that he drew from when drafting the Declaration of Independence. Cicero was for every citizen’s right to keep arms so that they could protect themselves and protect others against tyranny.
Founders of Liberty
Founders of Liberty is an original line of rounds exclusively from APMEX that celebrates the ideas that make freedom feasible. These ideas are represented with symbolic representations on the reverse of each round, while the obverse showcases a historical figure who either developed the concept or was selected as the idea's best advocate. These rounds highlight dominant voices for liberty, including U.S. Founding Fathers and the individuals they looked to for ideas.
Each release in the collection boasts an invaluable, limited mintage antique round that comes in a distinctive display box and certificate of authenticity. Releases also include the same artwork on unlimited bullion investment rounds. These bullion rounds can be secured in special tamper-evident packaging, which is a great alternative to the antique display round if its limited mintages sell out before you can order.
We are never more than one era away from losing freedom. Pass these important ideas on as gifts to the next generation or improve your Precious Metal holdings in a way that honors the people and ideas that made such prosperity possible.
