About DIG DUG
DIG DUG launched in April of 1982 and is considered a maze arcade game similar to PAC-MAN, but where the maze is created through digging. The name of the main character is also DIG DUG, and he uses his shovel and air pump to clear POOKAS and FYGARS by pumping them up to bursting! Alternatively, players can dislodge boulders to crush these enemy characters for even more points. The catch-phrase for the game was "Crush and inflate!" and by doing so a player could maximize their score. POOKAS are odd little creatures with goggles while FYGARS are fire-breathing dragons.
