American Gold Eagle Series

Since its inception in 1986, the American Gold Eagle series has become synonymous with quality and trust in the gold bullion market. This series was created under the Gold Bullion Act of 1985, which allowed for the production of gold coins in four denominations: 1 oz, ½ oz, ¼ oz, and 1/10 oz. The ½ oz Gold Eagle is composed of half an ounce (15.55 grams) of pure gold with a fineness of .9167, giving it a total weight of around 16.97 grams or 0.5455 troy ounces. The popularity of fractional gold coins, such as the ½ oz Gold Eagle, stems from their versatility and affordability, making them an ideal choice for investors who prefer to manage their gold holdings in smaller, more flexible amounts.

2025 1/2 oz American Gold Eagle Design
The 2025 1/2 oz American Gold Eagle continues the series’ tradition of pairing historical and modern designs. The obverse features Augustus Saint-Gaudens’ Lady Liberty, striding forward with a torch and olive branch, is a design first used on the $20 Gold Double Eagle in 1907. It was on the Gold Double Eagle from 1907-1933. It is celebrated for its artistry and significance and has donned the Gold Eagles since their inception in 1986.

The reverse, designed by Jennie Norris and introduced in 2021, showcases a close-up of the American bald eagle, capturing the fierce and noble spirit of this national symbol. This replaced Miley Busiek’s classic design of a family of eagles when the American Eagles were redesigned in 2021. This new design complements the historic obverse, creating a coin that honors America’s past while embracing its present.

PCGS First Day of Issue
This 2025 1/2 oz American Gold Eagle carries the prestigious PCGS First Day of Issue (FDI) designation, confirming that it was shipped from the U.S. Mint on the very first day of its release. PCGS is one of the leading coin grading companies in the world. They have years of experience and expert numismatists that stand behind their products and certifications. Coins with the FDI designation are highly prized by collectors due to their rarity and the added significance of being among the earliest released from the Mint.

PCGS MS-70
This American Gold Eagle was given an MS-70 grade by PCGS, indicating the coin is flawless. MS-70 graded coins exhibit no imperfections, even under magnification. These perfect coins command a higher premium than other coins on the market and are highly coveted pieces of portfolios and collections.

APMEXclusive® Black Label
In addition to its FDI designation, this coin features an APMEXclusive® Black Label, a special label available only on American Eagles sold by APMEX. The black label enhances the coin’s aesthetic appeal, making it a standout piece in any collection. This exclusive label, combined with the coin’s perfect MS-70 grade, further elevates its desirability and market value.
