Rather than just showing Lady Peace’s head and face, Taylor based the new design on her original work from the 2019 Peace & Liberty Medal, but now “zoomed-out” to show Lady Peace striding alongside a Canadian shoreline. The image is rich in symbolism and enhanced by a dazzling proof finish. What’s more, this release will be the FIRST annual Canadian Peace Dollar issue featuring the effigy of King Charles III on the obverse. Instead of using the “standard” King Charles III effigy by Great Britain’s Royal Mint, Canada has continued its tradition of using Canadian-designed effigies. This brand-new effigy was designed by Steven Rosati, a Canadian award-winning portrait artist and member of the Portrait Society of Canada.

The Peace Dollar Series
The Royal Canadian Mint celebrates the milestone 5th anniversary of its Peace Dollar series with a historic design update by the original designer, retired RCM Senior Engraver Susan Taylor. Drawing inspiration from her 2019 Peace & Liberty Medal, Taylor's refreshed design offers a zoomed-out view of Lady Peace striding along a symbolic Canadian shoreline. This release also marks the debut of King Charles III’s effigy in the series, uniquely crafted by Canadian artist Steven Rosati.
The coin is struck in 99.99% pure silver and showcases an exquisite blend of finishes: polished surfaces for the sky and ocean, high frost for Lady Peace and the sandy shoreline, and satin finishes for the clouds, sun, and maple leaves.
