Goldbacks resemble standard paper currency in shape but are made with thin layers of 24-karat gold. Initially introduced in Utah following the Utah Legal Tender Act of 2019, they serve as a voluntary currency, allowing transactions at the vendor's discretion. Since then, additional states—Nevada, New Hampshire, Wyoming, and South Dakota and Florida have each launched their own Goldbacks in subsequent years, with Oklahoma becoming the seventh state to adopt this unique form of currency.
