Product Details
With the creation of the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) on April 1, 1924, Canada gained its first permanent full-time air force, and its early fleet helped develop aviation in Canada.

The final phase of WWII in Europe brought the First Canadian Army to the Netherlands (1944-45), where the Canadians fought from town to town, and sometimes, house to house, bringing freedom and relief to Dutch civilians who had endured five years of hardship and occupation. The hero’s welcome so poignantly illustrated on this ¼ oz 99.99% pure gold coin captures the joyous liberation celebrations that took place in the spring of 1945. Amid the excitement of the “Sweetest Spring,” a young girl’s gift of a tulip symbolizes a lasting legacy of peace, gratitude and friendship.

Coin Highlights:
  • Contains 0.016 oz or .5 grams of .9999 fine gold.
  • Your coin is encapsulated and presented in a Royal Canadian Mint-branded maroon clamshell with a black beauty box.
  • Limited mintage of 20,000 coins.
  • Obverse: The obverse features the effigy of His Majesty King Charles III by Canadian artist Steven Rosati.
  • Reverse: The reverse, designed by Canadian artist Nathalie Lagacé, is double-dated (“1996–2026”) to mark the 30th anniversary of Canada’s national arboreal emblem, the maple tree (Acer). It features two silver maple (Acer saccharinum) leaves rendered in a naturalistic, lifelike style. The foreground leaf is larger, while the rear leaf’s curled basal lobe evokes gentle movement, as if stirred by a breeze.
  • Guaranteed by the Royal Canadian Mint.
