The Titanic
The RMS Titanic was a British passenger liner operated by the White Star Line and widely regarded as a pinnacle of early 20th century maritime engineering and luxury. Designed to offer unmatched comfort and safety, the ship featured advanced construction techniques, opulent interiors, and modern amenities intended to serve elite travelers as well as emigrants crossing the Atlantic. At the time of its launch, Titanic was one of the largest and most technologically sophisticated ships ever built, symbolizing confidence in industrial progress and global travel.
On its maiden voyage from Southampton to New York City, the Titanic struck an iceberg in the North Atlantic Ocean and sank in the early hours of April 15, 1912. The disaster resulted in the loss of more than 1,500 lives and became one of the deadliest peacetime maritime tragedies in history. The sinking had a profound impact on international maritime regulations, leading to major reforms in ship safety standards, lifeboat requirements, and emergency response protocols that continue to influence modern seafaring practices.
