250 Years of Independence
Marquis de La Fayette was a French politician and officer who joined the American cause at the age of 20 to offer his support during the War of Independence. He formed a bond of trust and friendship with General George Washington and played a decisive role in the war, particularly through the American victory at Yorktown in 1781.
George Washington, the first President of the United States, is regarded as one of the Founding Fathers of the nation. He played a crucial role as Commander-in-Chief of the Continental Army during the Revolutionary War from 1775 to 1783 and contributed significantly to establishing the foundations of the young American Republic. He maintained strong ties with France, notably through his relationship with Marquis de La Fayette, to such an extent, that he was granted honorary citizenship in 1792.
