I would consider myself a rather serious collector, and there are several motivating factors that attract me to all the different numismatic works available. I primarily consider the coins aesthetics, its return on investment, rarity, the metal and its purity and what reactions it evokes when it is being viewed. This set pleases me in so many ways. I love how it pays homage to John Mercanti. His engravings are truly amazing pieces of art work that are immortalized in American currency. He designed the American Silver Eagles, and these exceptional American Eagles are wonderful representations of his talent. I think the signature is actually a reproduction of his signature, but in any case, it does not detract from their inherent beauty. The San Francisco Mint so rarely ever strikes a coin that we find in numismatic circles, but I am elated that they broke the mold for these pieces. The reverse proof and deep cameo are just simply stunning. You will not regret this purchase if aesthetics drives your passion for numismatics. These pieces hit all of my motivating factors mentioned above in purchasing new stock. I love them. No regrets whatsoever except that I wish I had purchased a couple more sets!
