The National Ballet of Canada, a company with more than 50 dancers and its own symphony orchestra, is Canada's premier dance company which ranks as one of the world's top international companies. Founded in 1951 by English dancer Celia Franca, the classical company is the only Canadian company to present a full range of traditional full evening ballet classes. The obverse of the coin shows a couple performing a ballet dance with an audience behind them. The reverse shows an effigy of Queen Elizabeth II.
