I've always been a fan of APMEX and respect them as the most dynamic metals exchange online. I expected this coin to arrive in mint condition seeing as I didn't buy it for a "random abrasions" discount, but it arrived with a very visible scratch to the top right of the boat. I'm not a serious collector or anything and bought it to wear so I'm probably less bothered about it than I should be, but I was just surprised that APMEX quality control didn't catch it. I had planned to wear it boat side out seeing as I'm a sailor, but I just wear the queen face out instead. I guess it's got extra character or something now.
- Pros
- Attractive Design
- Cons
- Poor Condition
- Bottom Line
- No, I would not recommend this to a friend

If you’re taking advantage of the market lows for platinum, this is how to do it. My 35-year-old coin was in near-perfect condition, just a tiny surface scuff on the obverse. Beautiful strike and design featuring the classic Machin effigy of QE2 (mine was an ‘85, YMMV) and a Viking ship on the reverse. A work of art and a terrific way to diversify your portfolio while prices are low, at a premium that gouges less than other forms.
- Pros
- Value (low premium over spot)
- Attractive Design
- Easy to Sell
- Mint Condition
- Recognized Brand
- Bottom Line
- Yes, I would recommend this to a friend.
