First, these are very high quality bullion bats offered by APMEX and delivered on time. Second, when considering copper or other base metals for investing one should remember that these are bullion, not scrap. Spot prices are based upon futures markets and mining companies selling to refiners by tonnages and train loads. Thus, copper bullion is much more valuable than mostly copper products such as wiring, pipes, etc. Hopefully, this will help you decide on copper investing.

Yes it's Copper, and yes, it's very expensive as compared to melt value of Copper. I purchased it, and more to come, as decoy bullion. They're heavy, easily sold for melt, and a criminal might be happy and weighed down at the sametime, thus preventing further searches. As for the bullion itself; beautifully crafted and well packaged. APMEX service was excellent as always.

I bought one and got hooked on these. so I bough a total of 4 and they look amazing. I use them as paperweights and as a hedge against an Alien invasion that would steal all our copper as well. :) I bought the 1kilos (2 of them) They also look amazing. I get questions about these bars all the time from people, the wife thought is was gold so I had a little fun with that. I also like them because they are a good way to get an idea of different weights etc. I highly recommend them if you want the coolest paperweight in town from a reputable bullion dealer.

I've been breaking down A/C units for years. Copper $$$ are Way Down and $15 wouldn't get my attention. I got 3-400 lbs out back of #1 copper. I was doing well when copper was $4.00 a pound but to melt this into a pound for $30 is a stretch for me I'd get 2 oz's of sliver & use my copper pipe to run water or melt odd pieces to do electrical stuff. I do like option though & this may become one but China's NOT building. Price DOWN! peace to ALL,,,,

Great display alongside a rock that is half native copper, on a mineral shelf in my granddaughter's home. Very good teaching tool...much nicer than the one I had in my chemistry classroom! The Geiger mint might justify the premium, for historical reasons. Despite copper's common status, it is easy to look at it through 200+ year old eyes and appreciate its true beauty.
