About the American Silver Eagle
American Silver Eagles (ASE's) have traditionally held a modest premium over spot and typically higher than a silver round. Due to supply chain disruptions and intense demand for silver that began in 2020, the premiums and overall value of silver eagle coins increased dramatically. With the number of suppliers capable of providing the US Mint with silver blanks consistently manufactured to their specifications limited to just one, the supply-demand imbalance created a large increase in premiums. In addition to higher premiums, limited supply has created desirability for American Silver Eagles whose mintages are limited. Graded silver eagles from years with limited mintages are becoming more sought after for their rarity, as they're considered an important collectible coin. Prices relative to other coins remained elevated for years but have normalized in relation to other sovereign silver coins.
