About the Chinese Silver Panda
Since 2016, Chinese Silver Pandas are only minted in grams, making price comparisons an encumbrance. One troy ounce is equivalent to 31.1035 grams. A 30-gram Chinese Silver Panda coin is the closest coin to one troy ounce of silver, and it often sells at a hefty premium. Even with less silver, the silver panda often retails for more than its troy ounce counterparts you may find in the Krugerrand, Britannia, Maple, or Philharmonic. The Panda’s design changes every year, one of the few in the world that does so. This feature, combined with limited mintages, creates a higher premium. This series tends to be sought after by international collectors more so than other coins that are produced solely as bullion investments, and helps explain some of the premiums.
