I have the 1967 Canada centennial silver proof set so I was eager to buy this 2017 sesquicentennial set. These modern designs are quite interesting and I particularly like the gold-plated silver dollar and the low-mintage 50-cent piece with the 13-segment maple leaf representing Canada's 10 provinces and 3 territories. But the beauty of the bunch is the beaver nickel that appears to be inspired by Haida native art. What a cool design! The packaging of this set is much improved from the one 50 years earlier. It's in a handsome leather book and the coins are sealed in a plastic case this time, so hopefully they won't tarnish like the 1967 silver coins did. I just wish the Royal Canadian Mint would update the effigy of QEII. The one they've used since 2004 is so blah. This would have been a great opportunity for a fresh obverse design.

- Attractive Design
- Collectible (lower mintage)
- Mint Condition
- Recognized Brand
- Bottom Line
- Yes, I would recommend this to a friend.
