Gold Nugget and Kangaroo Series
The Gold Nugget and Kangaroo coin series was first introduced in 1987 by Gold Corp., an entity owned by the Western Australian government who oversees operations at The Perth Mint. Today, not only are the Gold Kangaroos available in the 1 oz gold BU coin, but also in smaller fractional sizes as well as the large format gold 1 kilo.
Gold Kangaroo Design
In 1990, the Australian Gold Nugget coin was changed to feature the kangaroo. While the obverse of this series bears a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II each year from 1990 to 2003 and the effigy of King Charles III beginning in 2024, the 1 oz and fractional gold sizes feature a yearly changing design of Australia's most recognizable animal. The 1 kilo gold coin reverse remains consistent yearly with the iconic red kangaroo design.
Precious Metals IRA
For products to qualify for a Precious Metals IRA, they must exceed minimum fineness requirements as set by the IRS. 1 oz Gold Kangaroo/Nugget coins are eligible for Precious Metals IRAs as they meet the .999 fineness requirement.
Important Notes
Note that these coins will come in Brilliant Uncirculated condition, meaning that there will be no wear on the coin, though light contact marks and spotted surfaces are possible. Dates on these random year coins will be of our choosing and may or may not vary, determined by stock on hand.

I've made multiple orders from APMEX and everything I have received has been in perfect condition. This one was no exception. The main reason for writing this review is to compliment APMEX on their superb customer service. I find that rare these days dealing with companies in the States and for that reason I will continue to use APMEX for my gold and silver purchases.
