Gold Nugget & Kangaroo Series
The Gold Nugget & Kangaroo Coin series was first introduced in 1987 by Gold Corp., an entity owned by the Western Australian Government. Today, not only are the Gold Kangaroos available in the 1 oz Gold BU coin, but also in smaller fractional sizes as well as the large format Gold 1 kilo.
Gold Kangaroo Design
In 1990, the Australian Gold Nugget coin was changed to feature the kangaroo. While the obverse of this series bears a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II each year, the 1 oz and fractional Gold sizes feature a yearly changing design of Australia's most recognizable animal. The 1 kilo Gold coin reverse remains consistent yearly with the iconic red kangaroo design.

What is the different between investing in Australian Gold coins and Gold bars?
Deciding to invest in Australian Gold coins or Gold bars really depends on your goals as an investor. Those who choose 1 oz Gold Kangaroos may do so because they prefer to have Gold that represents more than just physical Gold. Some prefer Gold coins, like Gold Nuggets, because the coins are aesthetically pleasing and have historical significance. While others prefer Gold bars over Gold Nuggets because Gold bars are more utilitarian, and can usually be acquired at a lower price point than Gold coins.
Buy these random Australian Gold coins, and expand your coin collection.
Add these Australian Gold coins to your cart, and enjoy the surprise of receiving Gold coins featuring any number of designs. While the 1 oz Gold Kangaroo has mostly featured a version of a kangaroo over the years, occasionally the design has featured wallabies and wallaroos. Of course, you may receive a Gold Nugget coins with the “Welcome Stranger” design based on the nugget discovered in 1869. Buying Gold coins in this manner is considered fun by many collectors who enjoy the excitement of not knowing what they will get until they open their package.
The Gold Nugget series was introduced in 1986, only later featuring the red kangaroo as a more recognizable symbol for these .9999 fine Gold coins.

I've made multiple orders from APMEX and everything I have received has been in perfect condition. This one was no exception. The main reason for writing this review is to compliment APMEX on their superb customer service. I find that rare these days dealing with companies in the States and for that reason I will continue to use APMEX for my gold and silver purchases.
