Product Details
For the first time in 20 years, the U.S. Mint has added a metal to the American Eagle program with the first American Palladium coin. This Palladium coin pairs the classic obverse of the Mercury dime with a reverse designed by Adolph Weinman in 1907.

Coin Highlights:
  • Contains 1 oz of .9995 fine Palladium.
  • Mintage of 15,000 coins for this inaugural issue.
  • Coins will be packaged in protective packaging.
  • Eligible for Precious Metals IRAs.
  • Obverse: A young depiction of Liberty with winged Phrygian cap, reminiscent of the Roman god Mercury. Adapted from Adolph Weinman's classic design first used on the Mercury Dime in 1916.
  • Reverse: A majestic eagle perched atop a rock along with the weight, purity and $25 face value. This design, also created by Adolph Weinman, has been used since 1907 on the American Institute of Architects' annual Gold Medal.
  • Produced at the U.S. Mint in Philadelphia.
  • Palladium is the first addition to the U.S. Mint's popular American Eagle bullion program since Platinum was introduced in 1997.

Containing a full oz of Palladium and featuring stunning, historic designs, this inaugural issue of the newest American Eagle series is an excellent choice for diversifying your investments with Palladium. Add the 2017 Palladium Eagle to your cart today!

The Value of 2017 Palladium Eagle

The 2017 Palladium Eagle may be a departure for even experienced Precious Metals investors, but it may potentially be a profitable departure. While the intrinsic value of Gold is—and has always been—recognized worldwide, Palladium is a relatively new noble metal and has more specific markets than Gold. For example, Palladium’s uses in the automotive industry are increasingly important. “Green” practices in the automotive industry and the urgency of cutting emissions means that Palladium-based catalytic converters are becoming the Gold standard, if you’ll forgive the pun. As you consider buying 2017 Palladium Eagles, it may seem that Palladium doesn’t offer the same resale potential of other Precious Metals, but Palladium has an attribute which beginning investors may not realize. Experts believe that right now is the perfect time to get in on the proverbial ground floor of Palladium investing. Due to recent upsets in global Palladium supply, most notably in the Ukraine, demand for Palladium is outstripping supply. Experts in the field believe that the value of Palladium can only rise. While Palladium Eagle coins may represent market speculation, it is a sound speculation.

Beautiful coin

A stunningly attractive coin with great obverse and reverse. Unique in that this is first issue with new metal from US mint. Low mintage. Popularity should only increase over time. The coin I received was a very crisp strike.

Not a good purchase!

Was this review helpful? Yes/ No

For 1700 dollars you would expect these Palladium coins to be in a good protective casing. Nope. They come in a flimsy plastic flip case. Mine was ripped from one side to the other. Don't know how that happened and why Apmex would send me that. The coin is also supposed to be in Mint condition. Mine wasn't. I could see a visible ding it it. Very disappointed in the coin and Apmex! If your looking to purchase this exact coin, go for one that has already been graded and slabbed.

  • Pros
  • Collectible (lower mintage)
  • Cons
  • Poor Condition
  • Bottom Line
  • No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Gorgeous

This is an absolutely beautiful coin; in my opinion a top 5 of all coins ever created. I was waiting to get the 2017 proof but Mint advised me that the proof will not be released for 2017 just 2018. I bought two of these.

Beautiful Coin

Was this review helpful? Yes/ No

Very nice coin. Also very good price when it first dropped. One thing to know is that the coin is listed as 34mm wide and 2.5mm deep. I tried putting it in an I34 airtite... but it wouldn't close all the way. I presume it is because it is high-relief and actually is wider than 2.5mm in some places. I called the manufacturer of airtites and they do have a 34mm ring for the X size holders. So that should work.

  • Pros
  • Value (low premium over spot)
  • Attractive Design
  • Collectible (lower mintage)
  • Easy to Sell
  • Mint Condition
  • Recognized Brand
  • Bottom Line
  • Yes, I would recommend this to a friend.

Perhaps the World's Best Pd Coin

Was this review helpful? Yes/ No

The wait is finally over for those wanting the first US Pd coin, with a classic design, a wise choice to use mercury. Extremely impressive Pd coin, almost high relief like, features stand out, coin is thick and nearly piedfort in that regard, reeded edge, weighty in the hand, tough metal and no worries about denting it. +Pd rarer than gold, harder to refine and mint, price is only going to go up +Now we have an American option, better looking than the Canadian coin in a design that will appeal to global audience from the best source, the US Mint

  • Pros
  • Attractive Design
  • Bottom Line
  • Yes, I would recommend this to a friend.
