Very tight fit for 1oz bars, the slots on each end are so tight it makes it nearly impossible to open the case. The plastic feels like it would break if accidentally dropped or knocked off a desk when full. Manufacturer's description specifically states this is NOT for long-term storage, as it is obviously not air tight. And brands it more as a way to safely transport bars during shipping. Bars must be entirely bare and free of all protective packaging in order to fit inside. Good for junk metals, not for collecting or maintaining mint quality, as constant inserting and removing will scratch edges.

I was looking for something simple and that I can open easily and re-arrange my silver bars as to keep them organized. I knew that some bars wouldnt fit however, I knew what I was getting. I knew it wasnt meant for displaying. I'd say its perfect for its purpose.

This box is a perfect fit for most 1oz silver bars, particularly my ENGELHARD bars of which I have several that have been rattling around in a safe. This box holds them still and apart from each other protecting them from damage caused by rubbing and heavier bars being stacked on top of them. They are slightly open along the seam and so do not offer protection from water or atmosphere. They also wouldn't work to bury anything in, if you're into that. The plain white makes it easy to write on and label the box to easily sort different brand and issues of bars.

If you're into Silver for collecting, Pass on this product. It serves it's purpose if you're stacking and putting away forever, but if you"re wanting to "see" your collection, this is not for you. Bars fit "OK" but not designed for accessing often...... IMO
