20 Franc Marianne Rooster Gold Coin
Seen as a representation of faith and hope since the medieval period, the rooster became an unofficial symbol of France and its positive advance as a nation. Known as Le Coq Gaulois or the Gallic rooster, it appears on one side of this celebrated coin. Upon the other side is a right-facing profile of Marianne, the personification of France and its classical liberal values including "liberty, equality, fraternity." These 20 Franc Gold coins were minted from 1899 to 1914 and the design was engraved by J.C. Chaplain.

I'm not really into roosters but upon getting it I changed my mind. It is a really nice looking coin. The pictures do not give it justice. For an AU I am very well pleased. Just wish it was a lower year.

This was my first gold purchase, and I could not be more happy. The coin I received was a 1911 restrike. I was hoping for an original, but this restrike is beautiful. Very clean, with very few blemishes. My goal is to collect one coin from each of the Latin Monetary Unit States, and I started with France. This is an affordable coin, which I was able to get at a reasonable amount over spot. And after doing a lot of research on line, I feel like APMEX is the safest most trustworthy place to purchase Precious metals. One last point, shipping was fast and well packaged. I will certainly be a repeat customer.
- Pros
- Value (low premium over spot)
- Attractive Design
- Collectible (lower mintage)
- Bottom Line
- Yes, I would recommend this to a friend.

Super happy with this purchase! I was expecting a later date restrike, which still would have been a great bullion coin, but was pleasantly surprised to receive an original coin struck in 1906. What a beautiful coin!
