20 Franc Marianne Rooster Gold Coin
Seen as a representation of faith and hope since the medieval period, the rooster became an unofficial symbol of France and it's positive advance as a nation. Known as Le Coq Gaulois or the Gallic Rooster, it appears on one side of this celebrated coin. Upon the other side is a right-facing profile of Marianne, the personification of France and its classical liberal values including "liberty, equality, fraternity". These 20 Franc Gold coins were minted from 1899 to 1914 and the design was engraved by J. C. Chaplain.

Buy Gold French Roosters for purchasing power that tends to be stable.

Whether investing in Gold French Roosters or other European Gold bullion such as Gold Sovereigns, many investors consider Gold a wise investment because the demand for Gold has been consistent since first being used to trade in ancient times. For centuries, Gold has been used to produce Gold coins and jewelry. The same Gold that is used to produce Gold bullion is also used for modern applications such as corrosion-free electrical connectors, heat shielding and protective coatings on satellites. Though the price of Gold may fluctuate, the purchasing power of Gold tends to remain stable since there is a finite amount of Gold in the world.

Collect iconic Gold French Roosters and satisfy your inner Francophile.

The Gold French Rooster is the quintessential French coin to own because it features the unofficial national symbol of France, the Gallic rooster. The rooster on these Gold coins came to be associated with France back in the Middle Ages due to the Latin word for rooster being gallus, and the Latin word for residents of Gaul (France) being Gallus. Though the rooster did not find its way onto French Gold coins until 1899, it gained popularity as a symbol of France during the French Revolution. Now, like with these Gold bullion coins, you will find roosters featured on French stamps, as the mascots of French national sports teams and even in logos of French businesses.

The French Gold 20 Francs Rooster was produced at the Paris Mint from 1899 to 1914.

beautiful piece of Gold history (France)

Was this review helpful? Yes/ No

This is a very nice historic gold coin from France. I'm typically a big fan of the Swiss Helvetia (or "Vreneli"), but I thought I'd check one of these out also. Not disappointed at all. Goes well with the Swiss coins, and the older historic British Sovereigns. Very nice coin!

Beautiful coins, but ...

Was this review helpful? Yes/ No

Beautiful coins, but... even knowing that most of these that are available are 1950's "re-strikes", I hoped (because of past experiences of delivery of better-than-promised coins) that by requesting "oldest dates available" and ordering 3, AMPEX might throw me a bone and include at least one original-issue coin. That was a bit naive of me, and I really wasn't specific in my "request". Though I readily accept the blame, I also admit to some disappointment. That said, every other purchase has been flawless and exceeded expectations in every way. AMPEX is still a first-class company!

Interesting Coin

Was this review helpful? Yes/ No

As usual, received my item quickly with no muss nor fuss. The coin I received was dated 1912, but is likely one of the 1950's re-strikes considering it's reddish hue. This is not uncommon as my understanding is that roughly 70% of the Roosters available are actually re-strikes as most of the original's were melted into bars to pay for the WWI war effort. Still a beautiful coin and a great way to get into gold without dropping 1k to pick up a full ounce.

  • Attractive Design

  • Cons
  • Common (higher mintage)

Stunning Coin!!

I received a 1905 dated coin that as far as I can tell has very minimal wear on the the high points and very beautiful mint luster in the background fields. Another great coin from Apmex!!!

My son starts learning to save with this item

Was this review helpful? Yes/ No

Well, the lad wanted to save with PMs rather than sticking it under the old mattress. A good listener, he understands what we all know. No counter-party risk with gold or silver, just preservation and indeed, a decent profit as PMs continue to climb in value as they are this year. So, every time his allowance and other sources of bucks come to a certain point, he is now investing in gold. Teach your children well. And they will do well, when the time comes.
