The MintDirect® process guarantees that these unsearched tubes of fresh Silver Eagles are taken directly from mint-strapped Monster Boxes, and each 20-coin tube is sealed to ensure that the coins remain in the same condition as when leaving the U.S. Mint.
The U.S. Mint does not sell bullion coins directly to the public. Instead, they distribute their coins to a handful of authorized purchasers, like APMEX, who then sell the coins to the public.
Coin Highlights:
- Each coin contains 1 oz of .999 fine silver.
- This MintDirect® tube contains 20 Silver American Eagle coins for a total Silver weight of 20 oz.
- Eligible for Precious Metals IRAs.
- Obverse: Adolph A. Weinman’s design showing Lady Liberty draped in an American flag, walking gracefully as the sun rises over a ridge.
- Reverse: On Type 1 coins (1986-2021), a heraldic eagle is shown below 13 small stars, representing the original colonies. On Type 2 coins (2021-present), an eagle flies in to land while clutching an oak branch in its talons.
- Guaranteed by the U.S. Mint.
MintDirect® tubes are the perfect way to begin your investment in silver bullion and allow you to purchase guaranteed mint-fresh product in smaller increments than 500-coin Monster Boxes. This random-year listing offers our lowest premiums on MintDirect® Silver Eagles. Add the Random Year Silver Eagle MintDirect® Tube to your cart today!
APMEX uses a special machine for this sealing process to ensure the products you receive are sealed completely once they are removed directly from the mint boxes. The mint tubes are placed on the conveyor leading into the machine and the sealing process seals both ends of each tube with tamper-evident packaging. After the process is completed, the tube is removed from the machine and then checked to ensure the quality of the packaging meets our exacting standards. You now have a finished tube of MintDirect® 1 oz Silver American Eagle coins.
Once completed, the MintDirect® tubes are stored back in the vault until they are ordered by our customers. By using this process, APMEX can guarantee the coins you receive are in exactly the same condition and packaging as they were when they left the United States Mint.
The MintDirect® process provides you the assurance this product has not been opened, sorted or searched. Click here to learn all about MintDirect® products from APMEX.
Note: The MintDirect® process does not guarantee protection from spotting or tarnishing that normally occurs in chemically active metals, such as Gold, Silver and Platinum.
The American Silver Eagle Coin Series
The Silver American Eagle is one of the most prolific and successful bullion programs produced by the United States Mint. Silver American Eagles are widely popular and highly collected coins today, but their significance is rooted in more than just the sales. There is historical significance to this coin and it starts with the obverse of the Silver Eagle, designed by Adolph A. Weinman.
The American Silver Eagle Coin Series Design
This design, introduced in 1986, was not the first time it was used in circulation. Weinman's Walking Liberty design was introduced during a time in which American coinage beauty was lacking. The Walking Liberty Half Dollar was minted between 1916 and 1947. The design was an instant hit with the public as a reminder of American ideals, opportunity and patriotism. The American Eagle coin's obverse design is Adolph A. Weinman's full-length figure of Liberty in full stride, enveloped in folds of the flag, with her right hand extended and branches of laurel and oak in her left. To understand the importance of the American Eagle coins is to understand the importance of its designer and design.
IRA-Approved Silver Eagles
In the midst of the various social, political and financial factors that continuously impact today's global economy, Silver holdings in an IRA can provide some financial reassurance and stability. Many view Silver as a more secure option for investment opportunities than stocks, bonds, or other forms of investments backed by paper. An IRA backed by Silver gives you the opportunity to invest in a physical commodity with a strong historic record as a store of value. The Silver American Eagle is IRA-approved and widely available at APMEX.

APMEX delivered a tube of 2015s, which, as of this post, are priced $70 higher. Seems to be a good idea to purchase the random products if you are into pleasant surprises from time-to-time. I didnt expect these to be sealed as well as the more expensive FDI’s etc. since the description doesnt specify, but probably fine to wait until and if i decide to have them graded.
- Bottom Line
- Yes, I would recommend this to a friend.

The picture shows a Type 1, but when the tube showed up they were all 2023 Type 2. I was very disappointed that APMEX showed something it didn't sell. First time I've had a bad experience like this.
- Bottom Line
- No, I would not recommend this to a friend
