The History of Chevrolet
Chevrolet got its start in a small shop in Detroit that grew until World War II. They played a part in war production and post-war production by offering their facilities to be turned into manufacturing centers and assembly plants.
In 1909, Buick founder William C. Durant asked Louis Chevrolet, a well-known race car driver, to design a vehicle that would appeal to the general public. The Chevrolet Motor Company of Michigan was founded in 1911 and started creating vehicles shortly thereafter. The company was changed in 1912 when Chevrolet first produced an automobile. It went through several expansions as the car's popularity increased, and it eventually merged with General Motors in 1918.
From 1931 until 1941, Chevrolet was always at or near the top in terms of sales from 1927 until 1940, when Chevrolet sales passed one million for the first time. Since then, Chevrolet has been at the forefront car manufacturing by developing the best cars with cutting edge technology. Chevrolet is recognized for developing cars ranging from subcompact automobiles to medium-duty commercial trucks.
