In the month of January, the United States Mint delivers coins that carry the new year’s date. Accordingly, the dies used to strike the coins from the last year are destroyed and new dies are engraved, prepared and deployed to strike coins for the new year.

Because each new year brings new dies, APMEX has designated all products delivered by the U.S. Mint in January that go through the MintDirect® process as MintDirect® Premier. APMEX has created a process to guarantee these coins are direct from the U.S. Mint to you. MintDirect® is our program that guarantees that these coins remain packaged in tubes taken directly from the sealed Monster Boxes as they were delivered.

APMEX and PCGS provide the assurance and recognition of the PCGS FirstStrike® designation to the MintDirect® Premier product. After the MintDirect® review process, PCGS recognizes these 2023 MintDirect® Premier Gold Buffalos as meeting their strict requirements for FirstStrike® eligibility if submitted for grading in their original sealed packaging.

The coin sealing process uses special machines to guarantee that the products you receive are completely sealed once they are removed from the mint boxes. The mint tubes are placed on the conveyor leading into the machine and the sealing process seals both ends of each tube with tamper-evident packaging. This packaging makes it easy to determine if a product has been tampered with. After the process is completed, the tube is removed from the machine and then checked to ensure the quality of the packaging meets our exacting standards. You now have a finished tube of MintDirect® Premier + PCGS FirstStrike® 2023 1 oz Gold American Buffalo coins.
