• Obverse: The right-facing portrait of Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, created by award-winning Canadian artist Susanna Blunt in 2003, is located on the obverse, surrounded by a concentric pattern of maple leaves. Each ring of the design contains thirty-five individual leaves interspersed with the number "35." Beside the effigy, the dates marking the span of the Queen's historic reign, "1952" and "2022," appear, separated by four tiny circles, which represent the four distinct renditions of the Queen that graced Canadian coinage. Inscribed "ELIZABETH II," "50 DOLLARS" and the date of issue "2023."
• Reverse: An amazingly sculptural interpretation Canada's national symbol, a lone sugar maple leaf, is centered on the reverse, contrasted against the same maple leaf "35" radial pattern. The maple leaf graphic by is surrounded by the inscriptions "CANADA" and "FINE SILVER 5 OZ ARGENT PUR," while the declaration of the coin's "9999" purity is located on the right and left sides of the leaf.

About the UHR Maple Leaf
The Royal Canadian Mint (RCM) launched the Silver Maple Leaf series in 1988. In 2022, the mint introduced the first ever 5 oz Silver Maple Leaf coin with an Ultra High Relief Reverse Proof finish. The coin featured a design that extended an astounding 3.0 mm above the surface of the coin, a full 10 times higher than the standard bullion issue 1 oz Silver Maple Leaf coin! To achieve this exciting result, the original maple leaf graphic created by the late Walter Ott (1920-2020), the RCM's master engraver and director of art from 1977 until 1985, was transformed into an exquisite Ultra High Relief masterpiece by award-winning medallic artist Susan Taylor. Ms. Taylor began her career as an apprentice to Mr. Ott in the early 1980s, then later served as the mint's senior engraver from 1999 until her retirement in 2017. This limited mintage 2023 dated Silver Maple Leaf coin features the amazing Ultra High Relief design, paired with a magnificent single year of issue field pattern celebrating the 35th anniversary of the Silver Maple Leaf series.
