Houses at Hogwarts
The Sorting Hat was used to determine in which house the students at Hogwarts lived. Each house had its own common room, dormitory and table in the Great Hall. Each house had one teacher who was the head of house, and each also had a house ghost. The houses competed throughout the school year by earning and losing points for behavior. The house with the most points won the House Cup. Each house also had its own Quidditch team that competed for the Quidditch Cup.
