APMEX Tamper Evident Packaging
APMEX uses a specialized sealing method designed to ensure customers receive genuine precious metals products. Tamper Evident Packaging serves as a clear indicator that the coin remains protected and unchanged after processing, offering reassurance when purchasing, storing, or selling.

Each Gold American Eagle is sealed individually after being removed directly from mint packaging. The coin is placed within an authentication card made from a non reactive plastic polymer that helps protect the coin’s surface and finish.

During the sealing stage, the authentication card is permanently enclosed, forming tamper evident packaging intended to safeguard the coin over time. Once sealed, every packaged coin is inspected to verify that the packaging meets APMEX quality standards.

Direct from the U.S. Mint
Bullion coins produced by the United States Mint are not sold directly to the public. Instead, the Mint distributes them through a small group of authorized purchasers who then make the coins available in the marketplace. As one of these authorized purchasers, APMEX receives coins directly from the U.S. Mint and offers them to customers.

American Gold Eagle Coins
The Gold American Eagle series was authorized by Congress in 1986 and quickly became one of the most widely recognized bullion coin series in the world. These coins were the first gold bullion coins issued by the United States government specifically for investment. Their design reflects patriotic themes, with the obverse based on Augustus Saint Gaudens’ Liberty design first used on the $20 Double Eagle introduced in 1907.
