American Gold Eagles
The American Gold Eagle series, created under the Gold Bullion Coin Act of 1985 and first released in 1986, is available in a variety of sizes, including 1 oz, 1/2 oz, 1/4 oz, and 1/10 oz. The 1/4 oz coin contains 0.25 troy ounces of pure gold, and due to its .9167 fineness, it has a total weight of approximately 8.48 grams (0.2727 troy ounces). This series is celebrated for its iconic imagery and is widely recognized as a reliable investment in gold.
2025 1/4 oz American Gold Eagle Design
The obverse of the 2025 American Gold Eagle showcases Lady Liberty, a design by Augustus Saint-Gaudens that was first seen on the $20 Gold Double Eagle in 1907. Liberty holds a torch in one hand and an olive branch in the other, symbolizing enlightenment and peace. The reverse, designed by Jennie Norris and introduced as part of a 2021 redesign, features a close-up of a bald eagle. This new design replaced Miley Busiek’s original design of a family of eagles.
