The obverse of the 2025 American Gold Eagle showcases Lady Liberty, a design by Augustus Saint-Gaudens that was first seen on the $20 Gold Double Eagle in 1907. Liberty holds a torch in one hand and an olive branch in the other, symbolizing enlightenment and peace. The reverse, designed by Jennie Norris and introduced as part of a 2021 redesign, features a close-up of a bald eagle. This new design replaced Miley Busiek’s original design of a family of eagles.
