The account of Jesus walking on the Sea of Galilee is found in the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, and John. After the miraculous feeding of the five thousand, Jesus sent His disciples ahead by boat while He went up on a mountain alone to pray. As night fell, the boat was battered by the wind and waves, and in the fourth watch of the night Jesus came to them, “walking on the sea.” The disciples were troubled and cried out in fear, but immediately Jesus spoke to them, saying, “Take courage; it is I. Do not be afraid.” These words echo throughout Christian faith as a declaration of both reassurance and divine presence.

In Matthew’s Gospel, Peter answered Him, “Lord, if it is You, command me to come to You on the water.” Jesus simply replied, “Come.” In a moment of extraordinary faith, Peter stepped out of the boat and walked on the water toward Jesus.
