Arizona Cardinals
The Arizona Cardinals are a professional football team based in the Phoenix metropolitan area, competing in the National Football League (NFL) as a member of the NFC West division. Founded in 1898 as the Morgan Athletic Club in Chicago, the Cardinals are the oldest continuously run professional football team in the United States. The franchise moved to St. Louis in 1960 and later relocated to Arizona in 1988, becoming the Phoenix Cardinals before adopting the name Arizona Cardinals in 1994 to represent the entire state. The Cardinals have won two NFL championships (1925 and 1947) prior to the Super Bowl era and made their first Super Bowl appearance in 2008 (Super Bowl XLIII), where they narrowly lost to the Pittsburgh Steelers in a thrilling game. Despite periods of struggle, the team has experienced several competitive eras, including playoff runs in the mid-2010s under head coach Bruce Arians and quarterback Carson Palmer.
