Tennessee Titans
The Tennessee Titans are a professional football team based in Nashville, Tennessee. The team competes in the National Football League as a member of the AFC South division. The franchise began in 1960 as the Houston Oilers, one of the original teams of the American Football League. The Oilers won the first two AFL championships before the AFL and NFL merged in 1970.

The organization relocated to Tennessee in 1997. The team played two seasons as the Tennessee Oilers before adopting the Titans name in 1999. That same season brought one of the most memorable moments in franchise history when the Titans reached Super Bowl XXXIV. The game ended with a dramatic final play that left Tennessee one yard short of tying the St. Louis Rams.

Another iconic moment arrived earlier that postseason during the AFC Wild Card Game. The “Music City Miracle,” a last-second kickoff return touchdown, remains one of the most famous plays in NFL playoff history.

The franchise has featured many notable players across its history. Earl Campbell and Bruce Matthews stood out during the Houston era. Later Titans stars included quarterback Steve McNair and running back Eddie George. In recent seasons, running back Derrick Henry established himself as one of the league’s most dominant power runners.

Under head coach Mike Vrabel, the Titans reached the AFC Championship Game during the 2019 season and remained competitive in the conference. The team carries a legacy that links the early AFL Oilers to the modern football culture of Nashville, with a reputation for physical play, strong running games, and memorable postseason moments.
