Jacksonville Jaguars
The Jacksonville Jaguars are a professional football team based in Jacksonville, Florida, competing in the National Football League (NFL) as a member of the AFC South division. The franchise was founded in 1993 and began play in 1995, entering the league alongside the Carolina Panthers as part of the NFL’s expansion era. The Jaguars made an immediate impact in the NFL, reaching the AFC Championship Game in just their second season (1996) under head coach Tom Coughlin and quarterback Mark Brunell. That early success, paired with standout players like Jimmy Smith, Tony Boselli, and Fred Taylor, helped establish the franchise’s identity. After years of ups and downs, the Jaguars reached the AFC Championship Game again in the 2017 season, powered by an elite defense nicknamed “Sacksonville”. More recently, under head coach Doug Pederson and led by young star quarterback Trevor Lawrence, the Jaguars have begun to rebuild into a competitive force, capturing the AFC South title in the 2022 season and winning their first playoff game in years.
