Back Design: The reverse of this coin honors everyday warriors who may appear fine on the outside, but fight an invisible battle daily. Each sickled cell represents thousands impacted across the globe. It offers a glimpse of sickle cell at a cellular level and global level - because awareness is one of the greatest tools we have to ease the burden. This design was created by Bobbi as a way to stand with her friends and fellow sickle cell warriors.
About the HEM Foundation, Inc.
The HEM (Health Equity Matters) Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded by a nurse practitioner and mother dedicated to transforming the lives of individuals living with sickle cell disease and other chronic blood disorders through education, holistic wellness, and community healing.
Created by and for the community, this limited edition silver coin was developed in collaboration with the HEM Foundation as a symbol of strength, brilliance, and resilience of this powerful community. The crescent shape, often misunderstood in medical terms, is reimagined here as a symbol of power, heritage, and full-circle resilience.
