Coin Highlights:
- Contains 1/4 oz of .986 fine gold.
- Coins are packaged in the original box with a certificate of authenticity.
- Obverse: The coin’s obverse shows Hilde Loewe-Flatter in profile, lost in thought. Behind her a band runs to the right, ending in a treble clef.
- Reverse: On the reverse, a female pianist looks directly at us, her gloved hand pressing a key. The right side of her face is obscured by a blank surface from which the mask of a mustachioed man emerges. This mask represents Henry Love, the pseudonym under which Hilde Loewe published her work in the 1920s. The musical notes to the right are an excerpt from that work.

About Unsung Heroines
Hilde Loewe-Flatter (1895–1976) was an Austrian pianist and composer whose music became internationally popular in the 1920s. Her most famous work, Das alte Lied (“That Dear Old Song”), became a worldwide hit in 1927 and was recorded by major performers including Richard Tauber, Marlene Dietrich, and Rudolf Schock. At the suggestion of her publisher, Loewe released the piece under the male pseudonym Henry Love, a reflection of the barriers women composers faced at the time. Born in Vienna as Hilda Löwi, she was a highly regarded piano accompanist after World War I and began composing with encouragement from actor Raoul Aslan. She later married stage designer Otto Flatter and emigrated to England, becoming a British citizen in 1947. Loewe-Flatter remained active as a pianist and teacher for the rest of her life, and her music continues to be performed today.
