About the Idaho 3 Goldback
The Limited Early Release (LER) Idaho 3 Goldback captures the virtue of Laetitia, or Joy, skiing in Idaho’s Smoky Mountains. This region is known for its pristine winter landscapes and deep connection to outdoor recreation. The skier carves confidently down the snowy slope, embodying the pure freedom and exhilaration of living in the moment.

Her sweater is embroidered with Idaho’s nickname, “The Gem State,” celebrating the state’s wealth of minerals and rugged mountain terrain. In the background, a chairlift ascends the mountainside, paying tribute to one of Idaho’s most influential innovations: the world’s first ski chairlift.

Invented in 1936 by James Curran, an engineer for the Union Pacific Railroad, the chairlift was inspired by a banana-loading system used on cargo ships. Installed at America’s first destination ski resort, the design allowed skiers to move uphill efficiently and comfortably, forever transforming winter recreation worldwide.
