Credit Suisse
These beautiful Swiss made platinum bars are produced by the renowned mint, Valcambi. However, Credit Suisse is much more than a platinum bar producer. Credit Suisse is an investment banking and financial services firm, headquartered in Zurich, Switzerland. Founded in 1856, their original purpose was to fund the development of Switzerland's rail system as well as their electrical grid and even some of the more broad European rail system. Today, Credit Suisse is one of the nine largest and most profitable banks under Wall Street's bulge bracket.

History of Platinum
Historically, platinum has been the more expensive metal when compared to gold. In fact, platinum is actually 30 times rarer than gold. Platinum is so rare that it is mined in a few deposits around the world with South Africa making up 80% of the total reserve. Platinum is often referred to as the rich man’s gold due to its prestigious uses in platinum jewelry. Platinum is more frequently used for industrial purposes. Today, platinum trades lower than gold even though it is much rarer than its counterpart, which is why many investors have turned to platinum for their investment needs.

Nice bar

Was this review helpful? Yes/ No

My first comment is to address others here complaining about the assay card and the packaging, guys if you have ever purchased credit suisse before you would know this is how they do it. Is it on the cheap side? Yes sure but credit suisse has been packaging the bars and assay card like this forever. If you want the best assay/packaging go with valcambi as they are even better than pamp. With all that said I love these bars and don't mind the old school assay. I'll definitely buy more of these!

Keep looking

Was this review helpful? Yes/ No

The bar itself was very nice. However, the bar came in two plastic bags, and assay card was separate. At the time, platinum was a great deal more expensive. It just seemed very sloppy for an $1800 piece of rare metal.

  • No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Beautiful, solid platinum bar. Have been looking to expand into platinum, which seems to be holding its value better than gold recently. Look forward to acquiring more from APMEX. Their service has been completely satisfactory.

One ounce bars are an excellent way to buy bullion platinum. Assay cards provided by APMEX are also an additional value, documenting the purchase. Excellent service from APMEX on buying platinum, normally a hard to find commodity.

  • Bottom Line
  • Yes, I would recommend this to a friend.
