The Perth Mint
Australia's The Perth Mint is the continent's oldest operating facility. It was originally founded as part of The Royal Mint system during British colonial rule. The Perth Mint was then handed over to the government of Western Australia and is not affiliated with the federal government's Royal Australian Mint.
The Perth Mint Design
On the obverse side of each bar is the image of The Perth Mints logo, a graceful swan. Featured in the center of a circle, the swan is surrounded by engravings that read "Perth Mint Australia." The bar's purity, metal content and weight are inscribed below.
The reverse side of these 10 gram The Perth Mint gold bars has a repeating design of jumping kangaroos. Both the official logo and kangaroos feature a deeply-mirrored finish, giving the design sets a distinct appearance that stands out from the matte finish of the bar itself.

To cut it short // 10g has around ~4% premium using check, and around ~8.5% with CC/PayPal (which is not insane but not the worst). But if you bought 2x 5g with CC, the premium is around ~11% which is more expensive but it’s more budget friendly for a casual stacker, and if you are stacking in timely manner, your best bet is 5g-10g. The 20g and 1 oz (31.10g) has almost the same premiums, that’s why I believe 10g is right smack in the middle in terms of budget, affordability, level of premium, and liquidity.
- Pros
- Attractive Design
- Recognized Brand
- Cons
- Generic Brand
- Bottom Line
- Yes, I would recommend this to a friend.

Perth Mint bars have very high quality workmanship. They are a bit scarce in the US but are very popular in other countries. So as a US citizen they may marginally difficult to sell on the secondary market. 10 gram bars are in my opinion the smallest bars that provide a decent hand feel. You are able to notice a weight to it that you just do not get from smaller bars and of course the higher weight you go from here only increases that satisfactory sensation. To be transparent this is not my favorite Assay card. It scratches and the top lamination peels a bit too easily but this may be muted by placing it in a protective bag which is always a good idea to do with fractional precious metals in my opinion.
