The Perth Mint
Australia's The Perth Mint is the continent's oldest operating facility. It was originally founded as part of The Royal Mint system during British colonial rule. The Perth Mint was then handed over to the government of Western Australia and is not affiliated with the federal government's Royal Australian Mint.
The Perth Mint Design
On the obverse side of each bar is the image of The Perth Mint's logo, a graceful swan. Featured in the center of a circle, the swan is surrounded by engravings that read "Perth Mint Australia." The bar's purity, metal content and weight are inscribed below.
The reverse side of these 50 gram The Perth Mint gold bars has a repeating design of jumping kangaroos. Both the official logo and kangaroos feature a deeply-mirrored finish, giving the design sets a distinct appearance that stands out from the matte finish of the bar itself.

The price of this bar was pretty close to the spot, so I bought it. I compared this bar with the picture shown on the APMEX website and there was a mismatch with the letters. This worried me a bit, but then I went on the Perth mint website and verified the embossed letters on their pictures. Those matched perfectly! So I am pretty certain that the bar I got is authentic, but I think the pictures on the APMEX website are suspect.

This bar all by itself has led me to stop buying 1 ounce bars. This one is 1.6 which just feels better in my hand. 1 oz. bars look puny, by comparison. Highly recommend this one.

Well its here and more beautiful than i can put into words.. ! Wow..50 grams of pure gold sure feels nice and more hefty than i thought. The packaging is nice sturdy & perfect ( no bends scratches or blemishes what so ever ) just the way i like it. Cant wait til i can afford more ( maybe around black friday next month when potential sales & specials kick in ).
