APMEX sent me the 1976 coin in BU condition. Perfect. No scratches, NO dings nor bag marks. This is a Proof coin, minus the plastic case and COA. I also prefer the artwork on this version as opposed to one other (which does not show any details of the face of Queen Elizabeth II. This is clear and sharp.
- Pros
- Attractive Design
- Easy to Sell
- Mint Condition
- Recognized Brand
- Bottom Line
- Yes, I would recommend this to a friend.

APMEX carries these Sovereigns in AU and BU condition, even ones produced more than 75 years ago. Hardly any "bag marks", nicks or scratches on edges, either. Most are truly "bright and shiny" and appear to be in New condition. I have not been disappointed yet, with any of my purchases and I will continue buying them as my budget allows.
- Pros
- Attractive Design
- Easy to Sell
- Mint Condition
- Recognized Brand
- Bottom Line
- Yes, I would recommend this to a friend.

It was my first sovereign purchase and I was so happy to see such a clear and beautiful coin. I am afraid to take it out of the minimal yet informative packaging to see what year it is exactly. I don’t want to ruin it. Now I want to collect more sovereigns!
- Pros
- Value (low premium over spot)
- Attractive Design
- Bottom Line
- Yes, I would recommend this to a friend.

Apmex are very conservative of their grading. They simply call these BU. Everyone I have had from them are better than BU, all are Mint State, some Gems. The Gold Sovereign is the worlds most recognized Gold coin, its been made since 1818 and come in full half or quarter sizes. Also the 2 and 5 sovereign coins. When buying gold, you can hedge your bet with a Sovereign, not only do you get Gold you get numismatic value and history. Better still buy a slabbed and graded coin, they are loved throughout the world and retain the value and you know its genuine.
- Pros
- Value (low premium over spot)
- Attractive Design
- Collectible (lower mintage)
- Easy to Sell
- Mint Condition
- Recognized Brand
- Bottom Line
- Yes, I would recommend this to a friend.

HRM Elizabeth II is the longest reigning British Monarch. Coins of her various effigies wil soon become scarce. Best to get them now for any type of collection set. Coin I received was full BU, not a slider. Nice coin, good price, good service. What's not to like?
- Pros
- Attractive Design
- Mint Condition
- Recognized Brand
- Bottom Line
- Yes, I would recommend this to a friend.
