The 2016 1 oz Platinum Maple Leaf features a new form of security though the Royal Canadian Mint’s Bullion DNA program. The Bullion DNA program offers the highest security on the market for any bullion coin. Each bullion coin features a textured maple leaf security privy mark, micro-engraved with laser technology and is visible only under magnification. Etched within the maple leaf security mark are the two digits indicating the coin’s production year. Each micro-engraving is encoded, scanned and recorded at the mint for future authentication giving each coin their unique Bullion DNA.
Bullion DNA authenticates coins by scanning them with a Mint’s proprietary Bullion DNA reader verifying that the micro-engraved security mark is a match to the Royal Canadian Mint’s secure database. This process provides each Platinum Maple Leaf coin with the highest security for any coin in the market place. The Royal Canadian Mint’s unique Bullion DNA program authenticates Platinum Maple Leaf coins dated 2016 and later. APMEX is a recognized Bullion DNA dealer for trusted RCM products.

Another dealer from my book these coins no longer has them in stock; so I thought I'd try APMEX. The coin is beautiful with the radial lines, brilliant surfaces, and realistic, mottled surface Canadian maple leaf. This platinum Maple Leaf is great. Mine came in perfect condition 2 days after I ordered it. It has a beautiful mirror like quality to it, and somehow you can tell it's not silver- I can't put my finger on why, maybe it's the density of the metal. It just exudes wealth and class...I really like having it! Thank you Apmex

I ordered (2) 2016 Canadian one ounce platinum Maple Leaf coins evidently fresh from the mint. Under 10X magnification, I found them to be superbly struck and in flawless condition. I will order again from APMEX.

Received this coin last week. While the face and reverse of the BU coin look good, the reeded edge is dinged and has sharp nicks in the platinum. These nicks were sharp enough to rip the plastic flip during shipment from APMEX. The coin is definitely not close to being in pristine condition, disappointing since I was really looking forward to owning this BU Maple Leaf. My assumption is that this occurred prior to APMEX's receipt from RCM, but no way to know for sure.

Merchant response: BU condition does not indicate a perfect coin. Coins can have light wear and still be considered in Brilliant Uncirculated condition.
