100th Anniversary Silver Dollars
Morgan and Peace Silver Dollars are some of the most iconic American coins of all time, minted from 1878 to 1935. Their withdrawal from circulation, though, led to their ever-increasing collectibility. This year, the U.S. Mint has released six special coins to mark the centennial of the Morgan Dollar’s final year of production and the Peace Dollar’s first.
These coins are expected to be delivered from the U.S. Mint in October - sign up now to be the first to be notified when they become available.

Demand for the anniversary Morgan and Peace Silver Dollars has been especially high. The Mint set up a pre-sale for these coins in May and June 2021, with an expected delivery in October 2021. But due to collector demand, the first two issues sold out within minutes. As a bulk purchaser of U.S. Mint coins, APMEX was able to get a limited quantity of these coins to offer to our customers.

The Morgan Dollar
These 2021 Morgan Dollars have some of the lowest mintages of the entire series, at only 175,000 coins each. They show the same designs as the original coins, and each new coin is made of .999 fine Silver and struck on a 38 mm planchet. They also were produced at San Francisco, Denver and Philadelphia, the same existing mint facilities which produced Morgan Dollars from 1878 to 1921.

New Orleans and Carson City
There are special versions of the Morgan Dollar produce to honor the two now-defunct mints which used to mint them. The New Orleans Mint, which was recommissioned in 1879 after the end of the Civil War, struck more than 186 million Morgan Dollars up to 1904. The Carson City Mint in Nevada made fewer than 14 million Morgan Dollars between 1878 and 1893, the year it closed. These particular coins are among the most sought-after by collectors.
Peace Dollars
The Peace Dollar was introduced to honor peace around the world following World War I. They were only produced from 1921 to 1928, in 1934 and 1935. A then-final issue was struck at Denver in 1964, but all those coins are believed to have been melted down before ever being released. The 2021 Peace Dollars are limited to only 200,000 coins and are all minted in Philadelphia according to a faithful recreation of the original design.
