7 Wonders of the Ancient World
This exciting 7 Wonders of the Ancient World series is an APMEXclusive® and will include seven releases all featuring low mintages of only 7,777 Silver and 77 Gold, respectively, worldwide. Each release will feature Silver and Gold rounds with beautiful designs of a mystical wonder of the ancient world along with a depiction of a historical figure relevant to the subject and denomination relevant to the period.

The Lighthouse at Alexandria, sometimes referred to as the Pharos of Alexandria, is estimated to have stood at least 330 feet in height when it opened in 247 BC. The lighthouse was built during the reign of Ptolemy II Philadelphus by the Greek Ptolemaic Kingdom of Ancient Egypt around 280 BC. Made of stone, the Lighthouse at Alexandria remained standing until it was damaged by massive earthquakes between 956 and 1323 AD, slowing becoming more of a ruin after each damaging natural disaster. The 1 oz Gold round’s obverse displays the lighthouse overlooking the island of the Pharos at Alexandria in detail to celebrate the construction that was once considered the tallest man-made structure in the world. The round’s reverse depicts the pharaoh Ptolemy II Philadelphus along with the denomination of a Tetradrachm, which was commonly used during the time of construction.
