The History of Chevrolet
Chevrolet began in a small shop in Detroit that eventually grew until World War II. Many of the manufacturing centers and assembly plants were changed into war production or post-war production, with more assembly facilities on the way.

In 1909, Buick founder William C. Durant asked Louis Chevrolet, a famous race car driver, to develop a vehicle for the general public. The Chevrolet Motor Company of Michigan was founded in 1911 and began developing vehicles shortly thereafter. The company was re-named in 1912, when Chevrolet first produced an automobile. It went through numerous expansions as the vehicle's popularity increased, until it ultimately became a part of General Motors in 1918.

From 1931 until 1941, Chevrolet was always at or near the top in terms of sales from 1927 until 1940, when Chevrolet sales surpassed one million for the first time.

Since then, Chevrolet has been at the forefront of developing the best cars with cutting edge technology. Chevrolet is recognized for developing cars ranging from subcompact automobiles to medium-duty commercial trucks.
