The Wonders of Australia Series- The Outback
This highly anticipated new series from The Perth Mint will feature three designs. The first design celebrates Australia's outback. Australia's vast and rugged outback is a land of awe-inspiring natural beauty, steeped in rich history and cultrual significance. The continent spans a staggering 7.68 million square kilometers, an area comprising deep canyons, arid desert, lush rain forests and stunning coastlines. Australia is home to between 600,000 and 700,000 species of wildlife, many of which are found only in Australia, making the Australian outback one of the world's more precious natural treasures.
The Perth Mint
Located along the Swan River, The Perth Mint is Australia's oldest operating mint and throughout its rich history, the name has become synonymous with some of the highest standard of bullion and collectible products. Along with the Gold Swan and Silver Swan series, some of The Perth Mint's most well-known coin programs include the Gold & Silver Kangaroo, Koala, Gold & Silver Lunar and the Silver Kookaburra programs.
This 1 oz gold coin was struck by The Perth Mint in celebration of The Wonders of Australia. This first in the series celebrates The Outback and is limited to a mintage of only 10,000 produced worldwide.
Coin Highlights:

- Obverse: The Dan Thorne effigy of His Majesty King Charles III, weight and fineness and the monetary denomination.
- Reverse: Portrays Australia's wondrous wildlife species in a montage of outback landscape. The design showcases iconic native species including emus, eagles, a dingo, kangaroos and a frilled-neck lizard, set amidst characteristic flora. The scene is enriched with elements of the rugged terrain such as a tranquil watering hole, striking sandstone formations and a radiant rising sun. The Perth Mint's "P" privy mark completes this design.
